A man and a woman are in custody related to the theft that occurred over the weekend at a Calumet Township cabin. The man had returned to the scene Tuesday and was spotted walking on the property. Houghton County Sheriff’s Department deputies were dispatched around noon.
When they arrived, the man had already left, heading north. The officers were told that two strangers and a white dog had been seen walking along Lakeshore Drive in recent days.
The Keweenaw County Sheriff K-9 unit was called in to assist in the search and law enforcement was able to track the man to the old boy scout cabin near the Gardener Creek walking trails around 2 PM. They also found the woman and several of the stolen items. Both were arrested and are now at the Houghton County Jail awaiting charges.
