Superior Search and Rescue Invites Baraga and Marquette Teams to Train in the Copper Country

Three search and rescue teams in the region are honing their skills through practicing full scale rescue operations. Last weekend Superior Search and Rescue invited the Baraga County and Marquette County Search and Rescue teams to the Copper Country to practice a full rescue scenario, with an action briefing afterward.

The teams practiced with a trained survival expert, who acted as a vulnerable adult patient walking away from Canal View. Crews were able to quickly locate the survivalist within five miles of the facility, in under eight hours. Superior Search and Rescue President, Darian Reed, says the training exercise helped them and the other groups practice new redeveloped practices that they have been working on over the past year. And he hopes to integrate more collaborative trainings programs with other regional rescue teams in the future. Members with the Superior Search and Rescue team now train twice a month with both classroom and real world instruction.
