The Orioles had built an early lead by scoring seven runs off Matthew Boyd and Chad Bell in the third inning. Detroit came back, and took the lead on J.D. Martinez’ grand slam in the seventh – his second homer of the night. The O’s forced extra innings with a solo home run off closer Justin Wilson in the ninth.
