U.S. Forest Service Makes $50 Million of Grant Funding Available to Support the Forestry Industry

The United States Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service division has opened up opportunities to take advantage of nearly 50 million dollars in grant funding. The United States Forest Service will plan to disperse nearly 50 million dollars worth of grant funding to support healthy forests, and strong rural economies, and expand the workforce in the forestry sector, thanks to funding allocated as a part of the Inflation Reduction and Bipartisan Infrastructure Acts. Funding for grants will support programs with the Wood Innovation Grant, Community Wood Grant, and Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance Grant. The forest service will seek proposals that support innovative uses of wood in the construction of low-carbon buildings or as a renewable energy source. Eligible entities include tribal, local, and state governments profit businesses, institutions of higher education, and non-profit organizations. The first grant program applications are due no later than December 15th.
