Upper Peninsula Tourism Leaders Applaud State’s Pure Michigan Budget Allocation

Upper Peninsula travel organizations applaud the state house’s recent 50 million dollar Pure Michigan Proposal. In the recently passed State House Budget proposal included a 50 million dollar allocation to enhance and expand tourism marketing efforts showcasing Michigan’s attractive wilderness with the flagship Pure Michigan campaign. Director of the Upper Peninsula Travel and Recreation Association Tom Nemacheck says that over the years the economic impact of the Pure Michigan campaign has been undeniable. Michigan, especially the Upper Peninsula is a year-round tourism destination, which is not something many states can claim to. The funding allocated for the Pure Michigan campaign is expected to bolster the state economy by attracting more visitors both domestically and internationally.

U.P. Travel Organizations Applaud Michigan House’s $50 Million Pure Michigan Proposal

 

IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich — Tourism and Recreation organizations across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (U.P.) are praising the Michigan House of Representatives proposal to significantly increase funding for the state’s flagship tourism initiative, the Pure Michigan campaign.

In the latest budget proposal, $50 million has been allocated  to enhance and expand the tourism marketing efforts that have been instrumental in showcasing Michigan’s diverse attractions.

“Over the years, the economic impact of the Pure Michigan campaign has been undeniable,” said Tom Nemacheck, director of the Upper Peninsula Travel & Recreation Association. “Michigan – especially the U.P. – is a year-round tourism destination, which is not something many states can make a claim to. This proposal leverages our strength as a state. We would like to thank Representative Will Snyder (D-Muskegon) for his leadership and prioritizing Pure Michigan funding in this budget.”


The funding increase for Pure Michigan is expected to bolster the state’s economy by attracting more visitors both domestically and internationally. Historical data underscores the campaign’s significant economic impact.
