19 Laid Off From Escanaba Paper Mill

Nineteen people have lost their jobs at the Verso Paper Mill in Escanaba.

Company spokeswoman Jackie Pride says the layoffs all came in salaried positions because there was a need to better align the number of people to the needs of the business.

She says the laid off employees were informed on Monday, and they will get severance packages.

Pride says the company is reorganizing its structure at the mill following the merger of Verso and NewPage in January.

The Escanaba mill has 147 salaried positions, and 952 employees in total.
