MLB
Justin Verlander was hit hard Saturday, as the Cleveland Indians routed the Detroit Tigers 13-6. Verlander surrendered seven runs in the first three innings. He gave up three home runs. Two additional runners who reached base before he left the game with nobody out in the fifth eventually scored off Shane Greene. Justin Upton, Miguel Cabrera and Jose Iglesias homered for Detroit.

Torres

The Tigers continue that series at Cleveland today. Matt Boyd will start against Carlos Carrasco. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Cincinnati Reds 7-5 on Saturday. Brewers pitchers gave up eight extra-base hits. Zach Davies allowed three runs over five inning, and left with the score tied. Carlos Torres surrendered three runs in the sixth, and took the loss. The Brewers conclude that series in Cincinnati this afternoon. Wily Peralta will pitch against Sal Romano.

In softball, at the Spring Swing at the Superior Dome Saturday…
– Hancock fell to Negaunee 8-2, and lost to Ishpeming 7-2.
– Houghton lost to Newberry 8-7.
– Calumet fell to Ishpeming 10-8, and defeated Westwood 5-2.

In the NHL playoffs Saturday…
– The Senators edged the Bruins 4-3 in overtime. That series is tied at a win per team.
– The Maple Leafs got past the Capitals 4-3 in double overtime. That set is tied at a win per team.
– The Predators blanked the Blackhawks 5-0. Nashville leads that series two games to none.
– The Ducks shaded the Flames 3-2. Anheim leads that set two games to none.

Today…
– The Canadiens face the Rangers. That series is tied at one win per team.
– The Penguins face the Blue Jackets. Pittsburgh leads that set two games to none.
– The Wild take on the Blues. St. Louis holds a two games to none advantage in that series.
– The Oilers play the Sharks. That set is tied at one win per team.

NBA
In the opening day of play in the NBA playoffs Saturday…
– The Cavaliers edged the Pacers 109-108.
– The Bucks downed the Raptors 97-83.
 – The Spurs dominated the Grizzlies 111-82.
– The Jazz slipped past the Clippers 97-95.

– The Celtics take on the Bulls.
– The Wizards face the Hawks.
– The Warriors meet the Trailblazers.
– The Rockets face the Thunder.
