Local Organizations Benefit From Canal Run

Several local organizations are benefiting from money raised by the Canal Run.

The Canal Run Gives Back program has donated a total of $2,500 to five non-profit organizations in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. Letters and payments have been mailed out to Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, Copper Country Autism Awareness, Dan Schmitt Gift of Music & Education Fund, U.P. Kids / Big Brothers Big Sisters and Love, Inc.

Race Director Angela Luskin said every year they are absolutely floored by the huge crowds they see at the annual Canal Run, adding those large crowds are what enables them to give back by donating this money to local organizations that make a difference in the daily life of people in the community.

Since 2011 the Canal Run has been able to donate $7,000 to local organizations. The Canal Run is held each July in Hancock, and is the largest running event in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
