Airports Are Offering Tips To Help Thanksgiving Travelers

With people packing into the airports to get to their holiday destinations Wednesday, the airports are offering some tips to make the trip a little easier.

Tara Hernandez is a spokeswoman at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

She says the best thing a traveler can do to ensure a smooth trip, is get to the airport early.

Hernandez says she encourages people to arrive 90 to 120 minutes before there flight to check-in and get through security.

Michael Conway, spokesman for Detroit Metropolitan Airport, also adds that travelers should check the TSA website to learn about screening procedures and know what they can and can’t pack.

Conway also says to double check bags for anything that could raise red flags at security checkpoints. He adds that anyone needing assistance finding their gate can ask any airport employee for help.

Triple-A Michigan predicts over 113,000 Michiganders will travel by air this Thanksgiving holiday period.
