Army To Test Driverless Convoy On Downstate Freeway

The U.S. military is gearing up for a first-of-its-kind test next.

The Army and MDOT are holding information sessions today about a convoy of four military vehicles featuring driverless technology.

The vehicles will ‘talk’ to one another with advanced communications equipment.

But Doug Halleaux with the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center says other drivers probably won’t even notice them.

The vehicles will also talk with radio units placed along I-69 as part of the project.
