Autism Alliance of Michigan Brings Free Health Clinics to the Copper Country Today and Tomorrow

Starting today the Keweenaw Area Community Foundation has teamed up with the Autism Alliance of Michigan to provide free programming to families. The program sessions with Autism Alliance of Michigan taking place at Michigan Tech University, begin at noon, with a second session at 7 p.m. The group has also brought to the community a free mobile health clinic to provide health screenings to people in the Copper Country today and tomorrow.

Here there might be more limited resources than if we were in a denser area. And it might be difficult for individuals to access those resources, or even know what resources are out there. So we are trying to establish a partnership between existing organizations so that we can all work together and serve the Upper Peninsula including Houghton.” – Jamie Zavier, Outreach Manager, Autism Alliance of Michigan

A second clinic with the autism alliance has been set up in Allouez Township for those living north of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, for easier travel.

The clinics open at 1 pm and run until 7 pm. The Michigan Tech location is located at the Hammer House and begins today. The clinic in Allouez Township is at the Allouez Community Center starting tomorrow.
