Baraga Man Sentenced For Strangulation

A Baraga man is headed to prison after pleading guilty in June to one count of assault by strangulation.

35 year old Jacob Charles Maki was sentenced to 27 months imprisonment in U.S. District court. Judge R. Allan Edgar additionally sentenenced Maki to serve 3 years of supervised release following the completion of his term.

The initial assault occurred in February of this year. The case was investigated by the FBI and the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Police.
