Bear Causing Problems In Houghton

There is a bear causing trouble in Houghton.

The Houghton Police Department has received numerous complaints of a bear entering residential areas where it’s finding bird feeders and open garbage.

The Department of Natural Resources suggests that if you have bird feeders or humming bird feeders, you should remove them and secure all open garbage in appropriate containers.

They also suggest you try removing any bird seed that may still be on the ground in the area where the bird feeders were.

If these measures are taken, the nuisance bear should move out of the area.

Police say if you see a bear, do not approach it.
