Bill Introduced to Trim Number of Judges in Michigan

A state lawmaker plans to introduce legislation that would follow through on recommendations in a recent report to cut the number of trial court judges in Michigan.

Senator Rick Jones of Grand Ledge says he’s seen judges in the past be more eager to get on the golf course than spend time on the bench.

He says a judges office can cost as much as $450,000 to operate.

The recommendations were proposed by the state court administrative office.
