Bow & Arrow Shooter Sent To Prison

A Hancock man charged with shooting someone with a bow and arrow is heading to prison.

Walters, James 358-year-old James Delmart Walters, Junior was sentenced in Houghton County Circuit Court Monday to 4 years and 9 months to a maximum of 10 years.

He was credited with 65 days already served.

Walters was arrested in February after police arrived at a residence in Hancock and found a 56-year-old man shot in the shoulder with a broad head tipped arrow.

The victim said the arrow missed his heart by only two inches.

Originally charged with Attempted Murder, Walters was able to plead No Contest to Assault with Intent to do Bodily Harm, less than Murder, as part of a plea agreement.
