Bridge Closures For Week Of March 2-7

Multiple short closures of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge have been scheduled for this week.

The Michigan Department of Transportation advises that the closures will likely result in delays for motorists.

Closures are scheduled to begin today and continue through this Friday.

Motorists should expect intermittent 20-minute closures between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. each day.

Snowmobile traffic on the lower bridge deck will not be affected by these closures.

The contractor for MDOT will be installing new lift cables on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, part of ongoing necessary maintenance work.

Additional closures will be scheduled at a later date.
