Cadeau Bound to Circuit Court

A Houghton man has been bound over to Circuit Court on charges that he murdered an elderly woman during a 2013 break–in. 30-year-old Timothy Cadeau waived his right to have a District Court preliminary exam on Friday and he’ll be arraigned in Circuit Court on Wednesday. Cadeau is charged with open murder and first–degree home invasion in the September 2013 death of 84–year–old Geraldine Fouts at her home in the Douglass House Apartments in Houghton. If convicted, Cadeau faces a maximum life sentence for murder and 20 years for home invasion. Details on the break–in, including Fouts’s cause of death, have not been released. Cadeau has undergone a series of competency exams and is undergoing treatment at a forensics center. His bond is $1 million.
