Car Safety in Cold Weather

It’s cold and getting colder in Michigan and as the mercury falls… emergency calls from motorists increase, according to Triple-A Michigan. Susan Hiltz of Triple-A Michigan says the auto club experienced a 34% increase in emergency calls Tuesday and had more than 800 “car start” dead battery calls. As meteorologists are calling for more cold this week, Hiltz is offering some tips to help Michigan motorists stay safe. Hiltz says it’s good to keep a flashlight, extra wiper fluid and nonperishable food inside your vehicle. But most importantly, she says to be sure to have a working cell phone and an in car battery charger to use in case of emergency.
