A proposed tribal casino in Lansing is on hold until the U.S. Supreme Court rules in a case involving a Northern Michigan casino. The Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals issued a temporary ban on efforts by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians to push the project forward. The Bay Mills Case currently before the Supreme Court could allow tribes to locate casinos pretty much anywhere in the state… if it’s decided in the tribe’s favor. That could open the door for the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community’s proposed Negaunee casino… which has been blocked by Governor Rick Snyder.
