Comments Requested On SkyWest Continuing As EAS Provider

The public is being asked to comment on the air service being provided at the Houghton County Memorial Airport.

The role of Essential Air Service provider was open to bid and the only proposal entered was from SkyWest, who already provides the service to Houghton as wells as Paducah, Muskegon and Eau Claire.

Airport Manager Dennis Hext says it’s important the public still provide comment even though there is only one airline to choose from.

Hext said the comments could affect the next time the service goes up for bid.

The new term begins February 1, 2016.
