Concern Over The Fate Of Local School District Millages

While Proposal 1 is the only statewide question on the ballot in Michigan Tuesday, some local school districts are asking voters for millage increases.

And there is some concern about the plight of those proposals, given that Proposal 1 is a tax increase and that could strengthen the anti-tax turnout today.

Kathy Hayes of the Michigan Association of School Boards agrees that its possible the millage proposals could be threatened by Prop 1, adding it’s one of those things that “unfortunately happens at the same time and voters will just have to decide what’s important to them.”
