COVID-19 update shows improvement for the Keweenaw

The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department put out a COVID-19 update late Thursday that was largely positive. Seventy cases were reported across the entire district, but only 47 came from Houghton, Baraga, and Keweenaw Counties combined. In Baraga, recoveries once again outpaced new positives. Houghton had the most cases at 40, but logged 32 recoveries. Keweenaw County had three of each. Taking new positives and subtracting out recoveries, there was a net gain of just five cases across all three counties compared to Monday.

On Thursday, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced that indoor dining will resume on February 1st in a limited capacity. The full report can be found here.
