DNR Mulls Covington Land Swap

The map of state-owned land in Covington Township is about to change. The DNR is considering a land swap with a property owner named Scott Holman, from Bay City. Holman will get 240 acres west and north of Little King Lake – adjacent to land Holman already owns. The state will get four parcels totaling 226 acres. One is in southern Covington Township. Two others are east of Vermillac Lake off old M-28. The fourth is in Whitefish Township in Chippewa County. All are adjacent to existing state land. The DNR will act on the proposal at its formal meeting on August 7th.
