Driver Crashes Into A Power Pole Along South River Road

Two people were hurt after their vehichle crashed into a power pole along South River Road Friday morning.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office says Deputies responded to the call shortly after midnight.

A vehicle driven by 23-year-old Andrew Korona reportedly lost control and left the roadway, striking the poll, causing the vehicle to roll on its side.

Both the driver and a passenger were treated and released from U.P. Health System-Portage.

Authorities say seatbelts were not worn and that alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.

Michigan State Police, Otter Lake Fire and First Responders, and Bay Ambulance assisted on scene.
