Fall Cleanup Begins

Fall cleanup efforts officially begin today in Houghton.

Residents are invited to bring debris from their cleanup to the Trash Collection Center at the City Garage, located on the corner of Technical Avenue and Gundlach Road.

Drop-off is self serve only and all garbage must be put in the dumpsters provided.

Houghton City Manager Eric Waara says this is a valuable service to city residents.

There will not an attendant present but all activities will be recorded by camera.

City officials ask that residents simply obey the posted signs.

You’re allowed to bring leaves, small branches, yard clippings, wood and brick construction materials, and wood that is no longer than four feet in length.

Items not allowed include furniture, clothes, metal, tires, cardboard, paint and empty paint cans, household garbage and lightbulbs of any type.

Seniors can have their debris picked up by calling the City Center.

The Fall Cleanup period ends November 1st.
