Fatal Accident Suspect Admits Guilt

The Ishpeming man who was involved in a fatal accident with two Copper Country residents has admitted to reckless driving. 19-year old Raymond Anderson pleaded guilty yesterday in a Marquette County District courtroom to two counts of moving violation causing death. The misdemeanor is punishable by up to 1 year in jail and/or a $2,000 fine. Police say Anderson was driving a rental truck when he pulled into the path of a motorcycle on US-41 at Lakeshore Drive in Ishpeming on June 5. 64-year-old Gary Kappler of Ahmeek and 52-year-old Diane Palosaari of Mohawk were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was wearing a helmet. Anderson is free on bond. No sentencing date has been scheduled.
