Get Ready for a White Christmas as a Winter Storm Rolls into Town

It will be a white Christmas for sure this weekend. Across the Upper Peninsula weather monitoring services are calling for blizzard like conditions over the next few days; including wind, cold temperatures, lake shore flooding, and more accumulating snow.  Last night the National Weather Service – Marquette, posted to their Facebook page an updated forecast for the region, predicting snow totals between 6 to 12 inches across much of the western and central portions of the Upper Peninsula. Today will include light to moderate snowfall, with wind speeds ramping up in the evening. And temperatures falling down to the teens at night. Other weather services are predicting similar snow totals with smaller ranges over the weekend. Included in the Marquette NWS post were tips for residents preparing for the winter storm. Additionally MDOT crews are ready to plow state highways for those needing to travel over the holiday weekend. With garages in St. Ignance, Engadine, L’Anse, and Houghton outfitting their vehicles with new tires and making repairs ahead of the storm.
