Governor Snyder on Roads: “We’re at an Impasse”

Talks between the governor and the four legislative leaders on how to fund road repairs in the state hit a snag Tuesday.

Governor Rick Snyder says while talks had been going well he and the four tops have reached an impasse.

The sticking point, according to Snyder, is what the tax relief portion of the funding plan should look like.

Apparently not everyone is in agreement as to what that tax relief should look like.

Snyder says no other meetings are scheduled.

The latest road funding proposal being debated behind closed doors included finding $800 million in revenue by way of tax and fee increases and taking $400 from the general fund to hit the $1.2 billion benchmark set by the governor.
