Great Deer Chase This Weekend

Get out those bikes and helmets because tomorrow is Great Deer Chase mountain bike races. The races, which are organized by Aspirus Keweenaw, will be held at the Swedetown trails in Calumet. Kids races begin at 9 a.m. The 15 and 28 mile mountain bike races start at 11, leading into the Calumet Heritage Festival parade. An ice cream social fundraiser for continued development of the Swedetown trails will be held later today at 4:30 at the 5th & Elm coffee shop in Calumet. Sundaes will be $5 each and all proceeds go toward the trails. Volunteers are still needed for things like traffic control, set up and clean up tomorrow for the race.
