Group Pushing a Corporate Income Tax Increase Starts Collecting Signatures

Citizens for Fair Taxes is hitting the streets, trying to collect the signatures it needs to get a question on the November ballot asking voters to raise the corporate income tax.

Right now that tax stands at 6 percent.

The group wants to bump it to 11 percent and use the money to fund road repairs.

Tom Lutz with Citizens for Fair Taxes says corporations profit from the state’s roads so they should help maintain them.

The group also says it has raised $1 million since announcing its effort two weeks ago.

Lutz wouldn’t outline who gave what but did say the bulk of the money came from the unions backing their cause.
