Hancock Woman Hospitalized Following Collision With Semi

UPDATE–Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post say 55-year-old Clare Rabitoy of Hancock, who was the driver of the car that collided with a semi truck on Thursday, is conscious and in stable condition at U.P. Health System Marquette.

48-year-old Richard Vannurden of Royalton, MN, who was the driver of the semi, was not injured.

The reasons for Rabitoy’s car crossing the centerline are unknown at this time and the accident is still under investigation.

A Hancock woman is hospitalized following a crash with a semi truck.

The Michigan State Police say Troopers from the Calumet Post responded to the accident on US-41 near King Lake Road in Covington Township Thursday evening around 8:00pm.

A 55-year-old Hancock woman was traveling westbound when she crossed the center line into the path of a semi truck heading east.

The accident caused extensive damage to the car and the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle.

She was brought to Baraga County Memorial Hospital and was later transferred to U.P. Health System—Marquette.

Her condition has not been reported.

The 48-year-old Royalton, Minnesota man, who was the driver of the semi, was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
