Heroin Bust in Houghton

A 38-year-old man from the Chicago area faces drug charges following his arrest in Houghton on Wednesday.

Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team took the man into custody at the Super 8 Motel. Using a search warrant, officials say they seized more than eight grams of heroin, numerous prescription narcotics, “evidence of drug distribution,” and $500.00 in suspected drug proceeds.

The suspect is being held in the Houghton County Jail. His identity will not be released until after his arraignment. Preliminary charges include intent to distribute heroin and a schedule II narcotic.
