Heroin Use Increasing In The U.P.

Heroin use has dramatically increased across the U.S. including Michigan. The center for disease Control and Prevention says heroin use increased 63 percent from 2002 through 2013.

Tim Scholander with the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team says heroin use is growing in the Upper Peninsula.

He says dealers from bigger cities are targeting the U.P. because they can get more money for the drugs.

Scholander says a huge increase in heroin use in the U.P. today started with prescription drug abuse in the 90s.
