Houghton Community Broadcasting Earns Three Best Excellence Awards, Adding to a Collection of Hardware

Still serving the same classic hits, and informative reporting, but with some new accolades. Last weekend 97.7 The Wolf’s Kevin Ericson, traveled downstate to the Michigan Association of Broadcasters annual award show, to collect a few new pieces of hardware for the office. Our stations took home three Best Excellence awards for Commercial Small Market Radio – Division Four. Bringing Houghton Community Broadcasting’s total to 55 awards, including 32 Best Excellence awards, since 2011.

Houghton Community Broadcasting has dedicated our time, and efforts to keeping our communities informed through our news outlet Keweenaw Report. Resulting in two separate awards for reporting from Interim News Director, Todd VanDyke. Who earned recognition for Best Investigative Story (Series on Mission Point of Hancock) and Best Feature Program (Copper Country Today). Our stations also earned Best Excellence in Marketing Materials and Promos for our help wanted commercial. That features the famous parking lot snow pile, the Wolf, the Bear, and our wonderful staff.

Thank you to all of our listeners, we could not achieve these types of accolades without your incredible support. Our stations are committed to the communities and people of the Copper Country. We hope to continue our legacy of great news coverage and entertainment for many years to come.
