Houghton Dems Support Energy Effciency

The Houghton Democratic Party is on record in support of energy efficiency in the U.P. During their final meeting of 2014, they passes two proposals dealing with the energy needs of the local area. The first was to encourage the Michigan legislature to pass a bill designed to strengthen the Renewable Energy Standard and stimulate the constructions of renewable energy generation. That bill is co-sponsored by Representative Scott Dianda. The second proposal supports the enactment of a Property Assessed Clean Energy financing district in Houghton County, which allows home and business owners to make energy efficient and renewable energy upgrades to their properties and pay off their investment through their property taxes.
