Housing Analysis To Be Done Throughout U.P.

Regional planners in the Upper Peninsula are going in on a housing market analysis to be done across the U.P.

The groups say the finished product should show them were more housing is needed and give them hard numbers to take to developers.

The latter brings money and jobs.

Joel Schultz, Executive Director of the Central Upper Peninsula Planning & Development Regional Commission, says the analysis will be especially handy in Dickinson County where a manufacturer is set to hire an additional 500 people over the next few years.

The question facing his commission; are there enough places for those new hires to live?

Seasonal housing in some of the tourist draws across the U.P. and downtown revitalization will also be party of the study.

The Target Market Analysis will be complete next summer.
