In 2024 CopperDog 150 Will Run for the 15th Year

Organizers have been getting geared up for close to a year, and the big weekend will return to Calumet before you know it. CopperDog 2024 will enter the race’s fifteenth year running. Over the years there have been plenty of memories made by race teams, volunteers, and spectators alike. CopperDog 150 brings to the region a feeling like no other thanks to the large community involvement, starting with the many local sponsors.

So we have a lot of sponsors off the top of my head. I can’t think of how many. Incredible Bank is our lead sponsor. They’ve sponsored every single year up to, I believe it’s been a total of $150,000 over 15 years. Copper World is ours, they do a lot of our swag, and we have, as I said, sponsors from every community that comes every year, and a lot of those sponsors then volunteer for the race. – Kelly Probst, Race Director, CopperDog 150

During the year many events in the Keweenaw Peninsula are driven by volunteers. But no event draws quite the volunteer power that CopperDog brings to the Copper Country. More than 600 volunteers are needed throughout the weekend.

You know, like I said, a lot of them come back year after year. I think once you come, you kind of see the excitement and how much work it takes to put it on. And people like to be a part of that, knowing that we can’t do it without those folks. So I think that’s what makes it special that they know that they’re the reason for this race. – Krissy Tepsa, Volunteer Coordinator, CopperDog 150

CopperDog 150 has some great new plans coming for the 2024 race weekend. And Organizers are quickly putting together the final touches. Teams potentially interested in joining the race can still join the Copper Dog 80 while joining the waitlist for other races. Volunteers interested in getting involved with the sled dog race should keep an eye on the Copper Dog 150 Facebook page for important training class information.
