Ishpeming Abduction Trial Begins

Jury selection began yesterday in the trial of two Ishpeming men accused of kidnapping two women last summer, and holding them prisoner. Prosecutors say Jason Sadowski and Charles Cope imprisoned the women in the basement of Sadowski’s martial arts studio, The Martial Way. One of the two alleged victims has since died. Sadowski and Cope are both accused of two counts of torture and two counts of unlawful imprisonment. Sadowski is also charged with two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and one count each of solicitation of murder and first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Both men have ‘habitual offender — fourth offense’ status attached. They could face life in prison if convicted.
