July 4th Weekend Traffic Deaths Down

The Michigan State Police says that traffic fatalities are down this past holiday weekend from last years count.

Last year, eleven traffic crashes resulted in twelve deaths during the Fourth of July weekend.

This year, there were only five deaths reported.

The report is part of the “Michigan Summer of Safety” campaign, which focuses on increasing awareness of motorcycle, pedestrian, bicycle, and child passenger safety.

Throughout the summer months, troopers will be on the lookout for motorists who are driving unsafely in the hopes of reducing fatalities and injuries on the road.
