Keweenaw Mountain Lodge to Reopen in 2018

The Keweenaw Mountain Lodge will reopen again in 2018. The decision was made recently by the Keweenaw County Board of Commissioners who voted to open the golf course in the spring, but wait until July before opening the Lodge.

The board discussed the options of closing the lodge and only operating the golf course, closing the property completely, or shortening the period of operation and only remaining open during peak season.

The troubled resort has been a topic of debate for the past couple of years and the county has been trying to sell it but so far, both prospective buyers have backed out of the deal, one due to stipulations of the property pertaining to a Historical Preservation Easement, dating back to the 1930’s…. and the other who did not offer an explanation.

Since then the board has implemented a $50,000 deposit for potential purchasers. That deposit would become non refundable after the purchaser has had a 60 day due diligence period to review the property. The current asking price remains at 1.5 Million dollars.
