After a soggy start on Friday and Saturday, the sun shone on the Ontonagon Labor Day Festival parade yesterday. Officials from Highland Copper Company were honored as the grand marshals. Highland is pursuing new copper mining operations at White Pine, and at the Copperwood Project, about 18 miles southwest of White Pine. The Labor Day Festival wraps up today. The Hank Thompson Memorial Kiddies’ Parade will line up at 12:30 in front of Syls Café, and step off at 1:00. Kids’ games will follow. If it rains, kiddies’ events will be held at the Village Recreation Building.
