Lake Trout Festival Successful

Lake Trout FestivalSome late afternoon rain didn’t dampen the spirits at the 10th annual Baraga County Lake Trout Festival on Saturday. Festival Committee Member Todd VanDyke says the event continues to grow, drawing people into downtown L’Anse, and getting widespread support from the community. A record 132 boats took part in the Keweenaw Bay Classic Fishing Tournament. A big crowd gathered on the Keweenaw Bay beach to watch the first-ever cardboard boat races, and 20 girls took part in the Little Miss Superior pageant. Starr Dunleavy won the crown. Sophia Rice was first runner-up. Addison Dompier was second runner-up. Leilani Stratton was third runner-up, and was named Miss Congeniality. Adyson Molden was fourth runner-up. Debbie and Andrew Lindgren won the Junk Art Contest with their entry “Gertie the Garden Lady.”
