Last Day To Register As A Candidate For Many Elections

Deadline day for candidates who want to run for office.

Those who want to run for a seat in the state legislature or Congress have to submit petition signatures and costs by 4:00pm.

There are several state House and Senate seats in which the current candidates are term-limited and cannot seek re-election.

Among the candidates expected to be on the ballot are Julie Calley, the wife of Lt. Governor Brian Calley who is running for state representative, and John Griffin who is running for a Jackson-area seat previously held by his father and brother.

The primary election is August 2nd.

The general election is November 8th.
