Leftover Medications Leading To Teen Drug Abuse

A just released study says the danger of teenagers abusing opiods and other strong pain medication often begins with a prescription for too many pills.

It ends with leftovers in the home, giving teens easy access to pills, which they can abuse.

The research was done by C-S Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan.

U of M research scientist Sarah Clark says providers must have conversations with parents about getting rid of leftover medications.
