Let’s Eat! Performance Canceled, Michigan Tech Choir Music for Sacred Spaces Returns

The Let’s Eat! performance scheduled for next month at the Rozsa Center has been cancel due to complications with the artists’ visas. Michigan Tech’s campus was the only American stop on the L’Arrière Scène tour of Let’s Eat! Rozsa Director Mary Jennings say that the Rozsa is disappointed to cancel any show,and to hear the the Quebec performance company could not obtain the necessary number of work visas to travel to the Houghton area, as the theater was excited to bring another immersive show to the copper country. Ticket holders will be refunded for their purchase, please contact the Rozsa Center with any questions.

Don’t fret though, the Rozsa Center does have two shows going on this weekend; Michigan Tech Choir’s Music for Sacred Spaces, and The Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra performances. Michigan Tech Choir’s performance will be at the St Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden is on Sunday, February 26th. The concert is an annual fundraiser supporting local chapters of St. Vincent de Paul. The music selection for that performance includes My Prayer, Enigma Variations, Agnus Dei, Lord Thou Hast Been Our Refuge, Shall We Gather at the River, and Walk Through the Streets of the City. Michigan Tech Choir’s Music for Sacred Spaces will begin at 7:30pm.

The Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra will perform on Saturday, but at the Rozsa Center on campus for Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. The show will also include the world premiere of “Plein Air,” a viola concerto by Marquette composer Griffin Candey and Marquette Symphony Orchestra principal violist Debbie Carlson will perform as a soloist for the piece. Music Director of the University of Hawaii Joseph Stepec steps up to the podium as the guest conductor for the second half of the program. The Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra will take stage at the Rozsa Center at 7:30 on Saturday.
