Levin is Secretary of Defense Candidate

Michigan U.S. Senator Carl Levin is on the short list of possible candidates for Secretary of Defense. Former Levin aide Kel Smythe of Escanaba worked with Levin in Detroit and served as his Upper Peninsula representative and he says he is not surprised that Levin is on the short list because of years on the Senate Armed Service Committee but would be even more surprised if he is chosen. Chuck Hagel resigned the position Monday.
