Attorney General Warns Of Bank Scams

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is warning Michigan residents of several new fraudulent bank scams.

The scam usually starts with a text from your bank, alerting you of possible unauthorized use of your debit card.

You’ll then receive a call from your bank’s toll free customer service line, which has been ‘spoofed’, meaning the scammers have made it appear the phone number is legit.

Another scam circulating through the state, is receiving a text, telling you your account is temporarily frozen.

Again, this is not how banks handle situations like this.

AG Nessel is advising you not to give out any personal information over the phone, if you receive a call  like this.

You should hang up, and call your financial institution.
