Baraga County Confirms First Covid-19 Case

Baraga County has recorded its first case of COVID-19 infection.

The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department confirmed the report in a press release this afternoon. Health Officer Kate Beer said the victim is a male with a recent history of travel. The Health Department continues to investigate to determine if the case is travel related and if additional people have been in close contact with the individual.

Those who are determined to have been in direct, personal contact with the infected individual will be notified and monitored. Beer added that additional information will be released if it is determined that there is any possible lower-risk community exposure.
