Bowl for Kids Sake Returns

Bowl for Kids Sake returns to the Copper Country this month.

The popular fundraiser for U.P. Kids Big Brothers Big Sisters was last held in March of 2019. COVID-19 concerns forced cancellation for the past three years.

In a recent Copper Country Today interview, Big Brothers Big Sisters program director Maggie Munch said they felt the loss of that revenue…

A huge portion of our funding came from that one event, so when we were not able to have that for a couple of years, it was devastating to us.

Stopgap funding from U.P. Kids helped keep basic programs afloat…

We kept kids connected, and we did whatever it took.

But, funding limitations and limited access to schools during the pandemic did set the program back…

We’re rebuilding now, getting our school-based mentoring programs up and running. We’re going to get back to exactly where we were before the pandemic, and hopefully even more so.

The Bowl for Kids Sake event will be held March 18th at the Mine Shaft/Rock House in Houghton. Individuals and teams that meet fundraising goals qualify for fun, non-competitive bowling sessions, and chances to win prizes.
