Calumet Village Clerk Asked To Resign

The Calumet Village Council is asking the city clerk to resign.

Former village administrator Rob Tarvis was accused of only attending one meeting since being elected clerk last November.

The council said they were unaware of any reason why Tarvis had missed six other meetings (regular and special), including the village’s March meeting on Tuesday.

Village President Dave Geisler was instructed by the council to draft a letter to Tarvis asking for his resignation.

Tarvis responded Wednesday by saying he attended all regular meetings in November, December and January.

When he turned in his keys on February 6th, Tarvis says he told the village president and attorney that his “goal was to never set foot in the Calumet Village Hall again in my life”.

In the more than 100 days since turning in his two week notice as village administrator, Tarvis says he continued to work 15-20 hours a week while a replacement was being sought.

In his response to the decision by the council to send the letter requesting he resign as city clerk, Tarvis says he has already given his resignation.
